Visit our tearoom
Our tearoom is open Wednesdays & Thursdays 10.30am -2pm, we serve hot and cold beverages, cakes and seasonal soup in the winter. All prepared by our wonderful Members.

We are often looking for volunteers to help us with events, maintenance projects and opening the gardens on a Sunday throughout the summer

Thornham Walled Garden Glasshouse Campaign
Our wonderful glasshouses at Beyond The Wall have come to the end of their lives and are falling into a dilapidated state. This is largely due to the age of the structures and the more frequent extreme weather we have been experiencing. Parts of the glasshouses have naturally reached the end of their life whilst the persistent wind and rain have caused damage to glass and timbers.
These spaces not only offer a historical aesthetic to the Victorian walled garden but also much needed functional spaces for our day provision for adults with additional needs.
We are in the lengthy planning stage where considerations will be made as to how we can sensitively repair or replace the glasshouses. Once we have the guidance and permission from the local authority, we can begin works make these spaces functional and usable again. We are working closely with the Thornham Estate to ensure the integrity and quality of the glasshouses are not compromised.
The space is really valued by our charity, providing us with much needed growing space and of course, our fabulous Tearoom. All of these elements contribute to our much relied on income which sustains our charity.
We are liaising with the Mid Suffolk Heritage department and the Thornham Estate to determine a long-term sustainable solution for the glasshouses that contribute to the integrity of the garden and meet the needs of our charity.
